Cheers. Thanks for the info. I have just moved back to newcastle so i am still unsure on cycle routes. How long do you recon it would take to cycle it??

Looking on Google maps the shortest route would be to use the pedestrian/cycle tunnel to Jarrow then onto the Metro Centre 12.3 miles. No idea of road conditions etc so wouldn't like to guess times. Coming into Newcastle makes it 18+ miles. Though Google isn't cycle specific.

As wolf says there are routes along the tyne - i reckon you can do it pretty much off road a lot of the way on either side of the Tyne. The south side used to have a rougher surface, and goes up and down a bit. On the north side follow the C2C route, cross at the Millenium Bridge, on to Dunston. try here for signed outes- the signage is pretty good at the mo.
