I am thinking of changing from a tiagra compact to a triple, when I change the chainset I guess I will need spacers does anybody know whether the spacers come with the chainset, according to shimano web site the bottom bracket is the same for triple or compact.
You shouldn't need spacers. The BB is the same, it's the axle that'll maybe be a different length, but that's an integral part of the crankset anyhow.
You do know you'll need new front and rear mechs, don't you?
Spacers??? I'm not a Shimano expert, but a bit of digging around leads me to assume that you have a Tiagra FC4550 and want to change it. The spacers you talk about is the Hollowtech bottom bracket. No need to change that. Check that your rear derailleur has a long enough cage. You'll also need to adjust the height of the front derailleur on the seat tube.
Thanks for the replies, I know about the front and rear mechs, on the shimano blow up documents it shows spacers being used on the triple but not the double.
