At the end of the day, it's the emergency services and mountain rescue who have to clean up after selfish w*****s like that and, quite frankly, why they should endanger their own safety to help out aforementioned selfish w*****s is beyond my comprehension.
Don't beat about the bush Jo, say it like you see it........

I have a theory that if it weren't for sports with an element of danger to them, we wouldn't need mountain rescue, and they are all enthusiasts in mountain sports, so it's all a bit cyclical really.

Though I agree with Jo's point of view the world also needs people who do the scary stupid things as that is how we learn new stuff and find new places. Some stuff is just begging for the Darwin awards though.

I've ridden platforms and tracks that width - just not with a drop on the side that promises at least serious injury and possibly death!

It's balls of steel - put that track six inches off the floor and I'd bet everyone here would give it a go, and most be able to do it without falling off. Put it where it is and only the truly mad/brave/skilled/all of the above dare try.

I'm not one of them btw!

Funny thing is, they most blatantly walk that wooden bridge partway through--which looks about 12" above the stream it crosses! Evidently they're reverse-acrophobes...

I think that mtn rescue teams understand exactly why people take such risks, indeed, are made up of risk takers themselves. What they frown on are the clueless who don't understand the risks and are not prepared for them. One man's risk is another's dull.

My cojones fully shrink even on a six inch elevated platform. I have the suicide gene as part of my genetic make up that makes me want to jump and I avoid all opportunities for vertical descents irrespective of height, safety nets, safety lines, parachutes and any other fail safe devices that you's care to identify.

My balls would do service in the tip of a biro if I found myself on one of those elevated ledges.

there is no way i could even think about that ,,id b struggling to walk it never mind on a bike !!!i dont think my bike control is good enough to ride accurately even if it was as somebody said 6" off the ground ,,and the walkway thing ,, i couldnt even walk that ,,,i was out last yr on a trek (stupidly i agreed to go for the first time),and was told it was easy as mountain /hill walks go (the three sisters in glencoe if anyones interested)came to a wee ledge about 12"wide and i couldnt even see the end of it as it kinda wrapped round the hill with a sheer drop one one side ,,and on the other a sheer rock face with nothing to grab onto if needed ,,it was blowing a gale as well,so i gave up and turned back ,,when i got home their was on the news i heard that somebody had fell off on that hill that and had to b winched out by a sea king and was doa at the hospital ,,that coulda been me !!!!

But it has cross members on the top which might have been difficult for them to ride a bike over.
Anyway, how do I vote for "pansies"? If they were riding uphill instead of mainly freewheeling down I might have been slightly impressed.
