How did you find it?

I decided to do mine online and can report everything worked smoothly.

I wondered about site capacity, given that perhaps millions of people may be doing as I did - filling out their forms on Sunday morning.

But no problems, everything clicked over swiftly.

None of the questions bothered me one bit, nor did I need to click on any of the explanations, so the questions also get a thumbs up for clarity.

I do take a small point over the time estimate of 'about 10 minutes'.

Took me close to 20 from start to finish.

How was it for you?

Easy enough, maybe 15 minutes.

However, its badly thought out. The answer to one question may make the next question totally irrelevant, but the process isn't smart enoughntinrecognise this and asks the question anyway. Not a big deal, but with all the money spent on its disappointing that that didn't hire someone with a braincell to oversee the design of the question flow.

When I told it I was retired it then asked what my last job was. I selected police officer from the list, and it then asked what the type of work dealt with. Really? I just wrote "locking up villains", on the basis that they asked a stupid question so deserved an aswer in kind.

Took a bit over 10 minutes but was chatting to someone at the same time.
Agree the question about what the job involves is a bit odd but easy enough to answer (the ONS team should be able to understand what ‘healthcare market research’ is  )

No problems with question flow for me, although the stuff about work could be duplicitous for some.

If you are a chef the question about what you do is a bit daft, but something like 'company director' or 'area manager' could benefit from some explanation.

Given that one size has to fit all, in this case 60+ million, I'm not inclined to criticise the way the questions were formulated.

I think the "what does that entail" isn't aimed at simple old fashioned job titles like policeman, nurse, market researcher, low end porn star... probably more aimed at helping statisticians understand what an "operations, facilitation and technical team lead scrum executive" actually does in a day. The next box i guess allows them to clarify that they do tedious office work in a grey building in Milton Keynes.

Oh and the census, took me about 15 minutes, I did mine 2 weeks ago. I thought it was pretty well structured and easy to do.

Only problem I had was religion - made me think
dunno what my religion is really - born CofE but only been to church when I had to - so school, weddings and funerals

pretty sure I don;t believe in an afterlife - so there's that
don't really believe in what the religious authorities say I should believe in - or like a lot of what they do

but.........

Ended up ticking Christian - but I haven't saved it yet so I may go back and change it to 'No Religion'

rest of it was fine

One thing I was impressed with was in the nationality section where they asked what nationality do you feel you belong to - ? Although I was born and brought up in England but am of Irish descent on both sides of the family, I put Irish 🇮🇪 and although I was half expecting a 'prove it' addition, nothing. Result - !

It didn't seem as detailed as I remember from previous censuses. I remember more personal questions. When I worked as a census form collector in '81 there were quite a few people who were querying why they need to know that amount of detail.
I'd have thought that Jedi would have been an option for religion.

Just done mine. I notice that you fill in one census per household. I completed my bit and handed the code over to Al to complete his. I notice that he can view my answers and got me thinking what if you don’t want the people you live with to view potentially sensitive info such as sexuality or religion?
