Old enough to know better, too old to care!
You haven't given it enough attention and it's in the huff!

I would remove the last updates from the time this problem started.
Microsoft have been installing updates in readiness for the windows 10 if yours is set to automatic updates change it to notify only and carefully chose which ones you need.:okay:

Check to see if your processor heatsink isn't clogged with dust and fluff.. mine was when I was getting the same problem.

Cleared the crud and all has been well since
where do I start with this one ?
Windows normally (if left default set as Automatic) sets a 'System Restore Point' before applying an update. If you go to PC Settings you should find the system restore point for before you say problems started for you, ie two or three weeks ago, just let it restore from there. I missed Windows 7 so can't steer you for where System Restore is exactly on that but i will be there in the settings box somewhere..
