Confused re. speedplay pedals

OK.... having used time atac alium clipless MTB pedals for the past year I've decided it's time to move to a proper road shoe (sidi genius 5.5) & pedal.

Bought the shoes, now looking for the right pedal. Speedplay sound attractive but I'm confused about the different pedals available and wonder whether anyone can help:

-what are the differences between the zero and the x series pedals?
-should I consider the light action pedal, or would the zero be the one to go for as an adult male of average size & strength?
-is the extra cost of the stainless steel justified, or is the chrome-moly just as good (albeit 2g ! heavier).

Any help or comments on speedplay appreciated.

I think the X series are the older version, they certainly appear to be a less refined design. Note that the X series is recommended for "Die-hard X pedal user" implying that everyone else should use the newer designs.

I'm very light (52kg) and initially had some difficult clipping in to Zeroes but I'm now used to them. They can still be a bit of a bugger in situations where there's not much pedal resistance to push against (e.g. going downhill) but generally they're fine. I think if you are of average weight you shouldn't have any problems.

I didn't feel like paying the extra for SS - Cro-mos are fine. Oh, and don't get white ones like I did. They look like sh*t after about 5 minutes!

Thanks for that. Got the silver zeros- actually grey. Now to fit the cleats.
