Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
Oh come on, the OP couldn't be more attention whoring if it tried... My post about mindfulness has nothing to do with this kind of attention-seeking. I mean honestly, it's like listening to a kid desperate to get someone else into trouble. This isn't how you sort out a dispute, this is how you make one worse.

And as for the vagueness. It's like those people who post on Facebook with just a sad face as a status. Actually, I have a nice link about it if you have a spare 5 minutes for a read... It's something I think anyone could read and discover they're guilty...

And you are wel known for opening your mouth and putting both feet feet in it..

Exactly.
It is only the internet, but we must not forget the real people behind the keyboards.

Well, for what it's worth, I'd say if you're having that much of a problem from posting on a forum to the point that it's actually affecting your real life, then you should step away from the computer for a while. It's just such a waste to get bothered by folk on the internet. Not worth it.

Feelings are feelings, they have their own justification. Feelings that are justified (or at least appear to be) are doubly justified. The snarky online world where it's just - just??? - words has a very limited place on a forum where I feel at ease. Give the guy a bit of respect, FFS! He's angry, he's probably right to be angry. Respect that. Please.

sometimes we can all get drawn in to an argument but carrying it over to abusive PMs is just silly. Leave the argument in the thread. I managed to help get a thread locked recently and, to be honest, i'm glad it was coz i was getting way too wound up for my own good and so were a few others! So you're not the only one to have threads locked. taking a break can help if things start getting personal. i didn't know you had testicular cancer so is there any chance the person who told you to "grow a pair" didn't know either and you thought they did, so took the message way more personal than was meant?

Can't you block people on here? Because surely if someone was being abusive then the sensible thing is to block them?

For many people the internet is a lifeline, their company, their social life, or at least closely knitted with their real life activities.
It might not be possible for some to distance themselves from online abuse - after all there are some that took their lives because of it.
I am the most insensitive person in real life, could get hurt by the written word though

You probably can block them but there must be few people who come on to a forum (or who have been on it from day one) who do so thinking that the internet is about not listening or blocking people. Or MTFUing.
It also means they have lost, the great thing about CC is the way it is self moderated, say something out of order and you will be well and truly crucified, anyone who resorts to abusive PMs know fine well they would be shot down on the open forum, that's why they send it as a PM. As @PaleRider said earlier, if you get an abusive PM, post in on the forum for all to see.
You make it sound like this forum is full of bullies, that anyone who says something that is deemed out of order will be "dealt with". Chill out.

I think this is a good place to draw this thread to a close.

I've received a PM from @classic33 and will continue the discussion there, but if any of you feel another member has overstepping the mark please use the 'Report' link or send any of the moderators (or me) a PM and we'll address it; but please do it straight away so that we can address it sooner, rather than later.

Thanks,
Shaun
