Continental Sport Contact 2

The GLW needs a new set of tyres. She swears by the Sport Contact 1 of which she has used two sets to date as she knows that they are absolutely reliable for her style of urban riding - fast. The Contact 2s have a revised tread pattern and she is suspicious that they won't behave in the same way as the Contact 1 that she knows and loves. The Contact 1 is still available, but only in 1.6" and she rides the 1.3"
Anyone have experience of the Contact 2 that they can pass on please - ?

I can't tell any difference between them when riding. I don't think tread patterns on bikes do anything to improve grip on the road, except possibly where there is a thin film of mud that the tread can cut through.

Tread pattern does nothing at all on a road tyre and is just there for psychological reassurance. What matters more is pressure and the hardness of the tread compound.
