From Sept onwards all officers will be required to take a fitness test annually.
As I know you are 'job', do you think that this might be a Government ploy to reduce numbers further @Cubist ??

As I work 'in partnership' on a semi regular basis with officers I a can agree that some officers look to be way below basic fitness but also that their are many in excellent shape.

As a former H.M Forces member I was required to pass a fitness test annually & the % of those that failed was very low.
Those who did fail had to undergo remedial fitness training until they were classed as fit.

Do you welcome the fitness test ?

Just thought that your perspective would be helpful to this thread.

Why do they wear stab proof vests all the time? Some copper came to my house the other year, about some minor incident,(i was a witness not the perpetrator ;))I told him he was safe to take off his stab proof vest, but he said that he'd rather not as "attacks can happen at anytime by anyone"! Charming that we're all classed as potential knife wielding nutters!

It's actually Force policy in most Forces when you're out of the Police station I think

It dosn't help their image when you get female officers sueing because the guns are too big or tripping over a paving stone whilst chasing somebody !
