There is also the Gtech Airam. Slightly less expensive but no accessories for upholstery etc. It is also only available from John Lewis, Zonama.

I definitely want to purchase it from my local electrical shop, so that if anything goes wrong their man can fix it.

We have one... Best couple hundred quid we've ever spent... with tiles and wood all through the house it beats getting the vacuum out to do a quick wizz around.

Hand held for the car and stairs or when the little one makes a biscuit crumb mess on the sofa, we mainly use it with the extension tube on so we can give the floors a quick going over. No pets.

Just got back from the hospital after using a Dyson Ball cleaner for the first time. Apparently that's not its intended use.

Brilliant, the mind boggles.
