My Stepmother-in-law (in the USA) has very kindly offered to pay for the 6 of us (my family + stepdaughter's bf) to fly over there at Easter. She asked us to look for flights and she'd pay. I went on Travel Supermarket, and Thompson, and a few of the flight operators' websites. The cheapest return I could find was £1084 pp = £6504.

We told her this, so she said she'd have a look herself for cheaper flights. She has now booked tickets for all of us, and on the confirmation she sent us, the final bill was $4640, which is about £3592.

Are we ripped off in the UK for flights, or does she know something I don't? Just interested really, as I thought I had explored most avenues to get the best deal.

thanks but we have very specific dates. 1st april to 14th april, needs to be from London and go (preferably direct) to Orlando.

it's all booked now, but I just wondered how myself and the stepmom had searched for the same dates and destinations, and she'd come up with costs that were half the price of what I'd been quoted in the UK. She also got a direct flight there, and one change back

Ah, I see what you mean. I speed-read your post and thought that you were saying that a return flight from the USA to the UK was half the price of doing it the other way round ... That's very odd!

Skyscanner didn't find anything direct for anywhere near the price that you mentioned.
