I really got into it when it was relaunched, wasn't sure about Tennant but he proved me wrong - I thought he was excellent, he really made the role his own which i guess is difficult to do when so many have done it before (even though mostly poor). The sidekicks have been a bit cheesy, and I wish they would stop going back to the old sidekicks as they don't really add anything.
I didn't see Hamlet, but have seen him in a couple of shows, there was one series where he was a DJ in a hospital and another one off where he played the part of someone recovering brain injury - exceptional acting IMO.
As already said, the main writer is outgoing aswell, and I doubt the new Doctor will be able to make up for it. It seems they are following formula a bit, why not someone totally different - now how about Bill Bailey??
