Coming down Foss Islands Road today, following a lorry at what I'd deem safe braking distance (though since my accident, that's a lot more than it used to be), being followed by a car keeping a respectable distance from my rear (around 1.5s)
I'm keeping pace with traffic, the first two sets of lights there's no problem. Lorry sets off, I start slowly to make sure there's enough gap to stop, car behind at a decent distance. Third set of lights, we're stationary on the junction to Navigation Road. There's a car blocking the cycle lane ahead, and it's pointless filtering one vehicle when I'm in a comfortable position as I am.
Car behind starts edging forward and creeping up beside me. There's nowhere for him to go as there's a little over three feet between this lorry and my front wheel. When the lorry starts moving so do I, but a little faster than I had been before, to make sure the car behind doesn't get in front. A lot of aggressive revving later, and the car turns right into the Morrisons car park, probably thinking he can skip the next lights and get in front. (he can't).

Now I'm not sure what I could have done differently. I thought it may have been my position, but looking back at the video there's little difference between Traffic lights 2 and 3. I'd considered telling him to back off, but with the behaviour, you never know how they're going to react, and I didn't fancy risk of a pasting.

So what could I have done better?

What happened here seems to be that the driver of the blue car felt you had taken his place in the queue.

Between 0:30 and 1:00, you're too far left in my opinion. Don't even give them a hope of overtaking and they won't get upset. What happened here is that the driver behind you saw a possibility of squeezing by you (to get his 'rightful' place in the queue back), but you were not far enough to the left to allow him to muscle you into the gutter. So he got frustrated (even though the lorry would have been in his way anyway).

Take a strong primary position (either bang in the middle of the lane or even farther right) and they will give up even the thought of overtaking.

If it was me though, I wouldn't have filtered up in the first place. I'm not a fan of filtering for (among other things) the reason that's illustrated here - it annoys the person you end up in front of. Sure, it's legal, but it doesn't fit with the queuing ethos, which is very strong in the UK.
