Cycling Scotland. And every time I see those posters I think, please give me more room than that, especially if I'm the same age as the kid on the poster!

Needs some kind person to photoshop a big artic (to scale) at her fingerips (perhaps both sides) and pop it back to them.

'As much room as you would give a car' is to me just plain wrong. I'd pass a vehicle a lot closer than a bike.
In a lot of the local side streets with parking down one side it leaves enough room to pass parked cars and oncoming vehicles in a gap probably 12-18" wider than the car.
I wouldn't pass a bike that closely.

The scale is the hard part best size check is the diameter of a kids mtb wheel size say 24" does that look about right?

As they should each give her that much room shouldn't it be 2 * fingertip to fingertip + the width of the bike between them?

Who knows what they mean? Both the picture and the words are completely ambiguous to me honest.

That's about to scale based on a 24" diameter wheel and the specs from Scania's website.

True, it isn't clear. There is a video that suggest that they meant my interpretation.

I think the video does make it clear. The poster though is ambiguous. A campaign showing the effect of real vehicles passing children might be more effective. Artics passing small cyclist on a main road in the rain ought to be enough to scare most people: scares me.

Unfortunately you know what the outcome wold be. "Why is the child riding in the road. The video shows how dangerous cycling is"
