Just as Godwin's Law states that in any political online discussion someone will inevitably draw a parallel with Hitler, I'd like to both instigate and prove the "Mention of Shallow Genetic Pool Inevitability Tendency" for Country music by mentioning and then posting the 'duelling banjos' scene from Deliverance

Try the Transatlantic Sessions, it's a bunch of musicians (some very well known, others less so) playing a mixture of bluegrass, Irish and Scottish traditional music. It works surprisingly well.

The Transatlantic Sessions consist of very high-quality musicians, playing an interesting and entertaining blend of music. When we had the pub, some of them came and played for us; they were/are great musicians and really nice people too. Aly Bain is a great guy, but he's a mate as well as a Shetlander, so I've got to say that. Another bonus, is that the musicians are/were great company in the bar afterwards and keen to stay up till the small hours for a dram or two.

I have been watching a young bluegrass band on Youtube the past couple of years called the Tuttles with AJ Lee. They are some very talented young pickers and singers, their father taught them and also plays in the band. AJ Lee is a excellent young singer that joins them. The Tuttle kids are all excellent pickers and the daughter Molly is an excellent singer and outstanding picker. They are out of San Francisco, which sort of surprised me. They never really get close enough to my area for me to get a chance to go see them:dry:, but I will if I get a chance. It has been fun watching them grow up on Youtube. They don't do strictly bluegrass either but do great bluegrass when they do it. This is one of their slower songs but still one of the tunes they do that I like and it is from a recent show.

On a less serious note has anyone seen Hayseed Dixie? We saw them a year or two ago at the O2 Academy in Newcastle. I didn't know what to expect but they were brilliant, a really fun night out. They do bluegrass covers of rock anthems as well as their own originals, The Ace of Spades and Bohemian Rhapsody like you've never heard them before - Genius

Must be my age but I've got into country and western.

Being a bit pedantic, Western (aka Western Swing) is a bit different, as in artistis like Bob Wills & The Texas Playboys, or more modetn like; Asleep At The Wheel
