Couple of Brompton clones on Ebay (being sold as Bromptons)

[steveindenmark]

Interesting that one listing has disappeared; the other is listed as "new other" and badged as a Brompton; which raises questions as to its origins...

I dont know why they would remove the original sticker and add a Brompton sticker. Unless they know nothing about Bromptons. I have 2 Bromptons and would like to try one of the remodelled 'Bromptons'.

My prediction is eBay will do fug-all.

But: let’s hope I’m wrong - and i admire your ‘spirit’ 😁

I've had the same response reporting misleading ebay listings for tools. The Ai response found that the listings were not misleading, when they clearly were. I guess the difference was no big brand for the sellers or ebay to battle with.

Or because theyre dodgy and trying to upsell to make moee profit?

Current fine for an illegal plate is £100, not exactly a deterrent.

That isn't but strict enforcement of the 'three strikes for illegal spacing and you lose the plate' rule might.

A naughty seller indeed. As far as I know, all the clones are TIG welded, not brazed. Worth noting how visually different the joints look, even under a coat of paint.

Get caught twice and the DVLA typically withdraw a private plate.

Of course, being caught once is very unlikely.

They obviously dont know Bromptons. I would have left the original stickers on it. 😄
