How long do you have to leave the UK before your no longer considered a resident? - would it be feasible for her to leave the UK for a short period of time only to return and use her Texan licence again?
Just curious regarding these things as I don't know

Apparently, your eligibility to drive in this country starts from the date you first enter the country. So if you entered the UK on 01/01/13 and you intended to drive in the UK beyond 31/12/13 you should have obtained a full UK driving licence by passing a British driving test.
I do know of someone who lived and worked here, then returned 'home' and then come back two weeks later and continue to drive on their non- British licence.

but in the very un-fortunate event you were to be involved in any sort of accident again keep every receipt and bill every expense the insurance will pay out so say you had to take a taxi or a bus to work because you couldn't ride your bike as you were injured and the bike was injured get a receipt from the taxi driver if you had to take time off work to go to doctors or because you couldn't work due to injury keep notes of it all and even get employer to sign it as you have been losing money there due to the driver so the insurance will pay out
what you can't do is get the latest greatest 100" flat screen led backlit 3d smart tv for a few grand and claim you needed something to do whilst injured!

Is there a time limit on when she can reapply for a license? You don't say anything about there being a period of disqualification. Although ... do you actually need to actually have a license to get disqualified?
Think you can get a ban without a license.

i'm pretty sure driving without a valid licence or the correct category ie driving a tracked 60 or 70 ton tank on a car licence would get you banned from driving

the name/title on curries website is mis leading though!
it said something about 4k when really it costs 14k! 
what i was really on about was buying one of these:
yep that's right the wopping 14 inch curved screen CRT that made a big clunk as you turn it on and gives you a static shock (we have never even owned any tv so yes i am very very sad)
i feel so sad and old just remembering them and how big and heavy they were and even still knowing roughly how they worked! oh i am well too sad

As she has held a British licence for less than two years, and she has got 6 penalty points, the licence is automatically revoked, because as far as DVLA are concerned she is regarded as a new driver. She now has to re- take her theory and hazard perception tests, before she can take her driving test. Because of the new driver rule, in this case the licence is just revoked with no ban.
You can get a driving ban without a licence. As far as I'm aware, the ban takes effect from the date of the conviction. So, if you then apply for a provisional licence, that licence will either not be issued or will not be valid until after the ban ends. After the expiry you can then take driving lessons or take a test!

We had a local shop owner who was fed up of people parking outside his shop.
So one morning he drove his tank to work instead. I believe it was done on an ordinary licence, with a shotgun licence for the gun!

You can only get a revocation OR a ban, it is not possible to have both. The revocation or ban does indeed start at upon conviction, but in the case of revocation you can apply immediately for a new theory and practical test and if successful regain your license. Mind you I would expect any insurance quote would make your eyes water in either case
