How is the Audi's forced induction system relevant to the story?

A guy lost his licence recently for speeding at 70 odd through a neighbouring villages 30 zone. The papers made a big deal out of him driving a Porsche, even though my Gran's old Austin 1100 automatic would comfortably have managed 70 down the same stretch had she had a mind to do so.
