Here, if you can stomach it is my brief manifesto for the UK Transport System:

Driver re-testing EVERY 10 years.
Drink drivers get life bans - repeat get prison
Drug drivers get life bans - repeat get prison
At fault collision drivers get minimum 1 year bans - increasing in stages to life depending on severity
Strict presumed liability for all drivers in collision with a slower/more vulnerable road user
Raise minimum driver age to 21
Compulsory 5 yearly medical for all drivers over 50
Life bans for all 'road rage' drivers
6 month ban for tailgating
Minimum insurance excess of £1000

I'd add compulsory Bikeability traing to level 3 as a precondition of licensing except for those who can prove physical incapacity

As all political parties are now getting ready for next general election, it would be a good idea for cycling community to lobby the political parties to come up with a cycling friendly transport policy.
It is very obvious that more people are taking up cycling. Therefore there are lots of votes for being pro cycling.
Is there a campaigning group for cyclists?

There is also the Cycling Embassy of Great Britain who talk a lot of sense...
