Hi.

I've just bought a new 105 front mech due to my old one that has cracked on the front bridge of the mech.

I'm wondering though, the crack, that has made that front bridge at the top of the mech totally split from the inside section of the front mech, can it be repaired? Possibly weld it? Or would that cause other problems?

Thanks
Will.

any chance of some piccies? if it's a band-on mech, the band-on bit is screwed on to the actual mech itself, so it may be that part of it is salvable, it may even be a knackered bolt, which should be simple enough to replace.

I could not find a 105 mech at the right angle, this is the best angle I could find, not able to take a pic myself atm.

Where the solid red line is, on that bridge, it's split there, and where the broke red line is, imagine that on a 105 mech looking from the underside, it's starting to crack along there.

Thanks

New one........

You'll not get that welded, it would cost you more and look a mess as the temps involved will wreck it.

I can get the welding done for free. Is it worth a try? I mean should it ever be used again if it's got a split in it? In which case, it's a loose loose situation unless the welding makes it semi usable.
