When my daughter was little we had a toaster
one of those ones with "cool walls"
in this case an inch of insulation between the hot bits and the wall of the toaster
but it didn;t go all the way to the ground - there was a lip
The spring was also a bit stronger than normal so the toast jumped up quite a bit when it finished

One day I discovered that you could balance the toaster on the lip and set it off
and if you positioned the plate correctly then when the toast was done it would leap out of the toaster and land on the plate perfectly

After that my daughter always had toast for breakfast (with something healthy on it)
but it had to be done one slice at a time
but it did work and it got her to eat properly in the mornings


My ex was not amused and said I was bringing the kid up wrongly
which I did not agree with!!!

did remind me of W&G though - I found the clip on You Tube and showed her and she loved it!!!

She was right, of course. You should have been making the sprogess rise at 4 am to light a coal fire and have the coals glowing nicely to make toast for you and your ex at 8am.

Don't
until she was nearly 4 she never slept through the night anyway
getting up at 4 a.m. was a normal nightly event with her!!!!
