Crank locks up on Brompton

Cycling home this evening and pedals locked completely. If I reverse cycle a little I can then continue to cycle for a few turns, but then locks up again. Any ideas? Can’t see any obstructions.

A friend had that on her (non-Brompton) bike a couple of weeks ago. It was due to the bottom side of a worn chainring 'hooking' the chain and jamming it in the bottom bracket area.

Check that your chainring isn't worn out!

If you disconnect the cable from the hub it should pop into high gear and allow you to pedal home.

Does the 3-speed gear changer feel OK when you switch gears? I think when I had this issue the adjuster bit at the wheel end had unscrewed itself enough to mess things up.

Found the problem I think. Jammed bolt from the mudguard wire. Hadn’t spotted it in the dark. Crank still sticking - will strip clean and grease.
