Ouch!!! I thought when I saw the thread title that this was going to be a bike on ped incident and they can get difficult when debated but.....
Ouch!!!! I honestly don't think there was a huge amount you could have done to avoid that one. Well done for keeping your temper as well - lets hope the little bollox has finally learned his lesson.

Could have been worse for both concerned I suppose.
I suppose the lesson is beware of anyone who is daft enough to wear a hood whilst cycling, chances are even if they DO try to look they'll only see polycotton fibres.

Good god that's an awful accident.
Kids tend to do that though.I've managed to avoid these incidents reading ahead.Although unfortunately for me I didn't see the three peds running from the other side of the road in Walthamstow to plonk themselves directly in front of me,4 years ago and the inevitable happened.

I tend to read ahead where cars are concerned, but just didnt expect that. What were the chances of him crossing the road at the precise time i was coming past. If he had taken the time to look he should have seen me I'm not exactly Mr invisible on the bike with what i wear lol.

Not only did he not f**king look, with his hood up he won't have been able to hear. As he's only a kid I reckon his parents should see what he's like riding a bike or failing that send it to the school he was heading for.
Footage reminds me of the recent safety campaign where a kid is knocked down by a car whilst the mate is filming on a phone.

SMIDSY on a bike... I've had paper delivery kids do this to me before now. They think there's no-one around early morning and scoot straight across the road in front of you.

Lat night there was a ped at Bank on the other side of the road with hood up crossing the road so I blew the horn.I saw it made her jump.
I wasn't sure if she was going to look.She did after that.

I knew somebody who did exactly the same thing as that kid. It was the last thing he ever did, because he crossed into the path of a motorbike.
If you are saying that this has happened to this kid before and I was his parents, the first thing I would do is to take the bike off him and bury it. At the side of the road I would of probably of given him some advice to get rid of it, because the way he was riding at some point in the near future he is going to end up dead.
