I think it was the last time England toured in India (could be the time before) when Root played himself into form. And it was beautiful cricket from him.

Joe Root is our greatest ever batsman imo. On a par with Ponting and a few others. He has time on his side to keep those runs coming to.
Definitely the best English batsman I have seen. Also most of his runs began with England 30-3. Better than Ponting in my view but perhaps not quite Tendulkar.

Yes, it really would. I think to get 300 + in the 4th innings on that wicket is nigh on impossible.
