I do have to acknowledge the openers who managed to give us a good platform for the first time this series.
So well done England and I hope the IOC investigate the pitch.

I don't think the result exonerates the preparation of the wicket.

It was a poor wicket but I think the Aussie second innings was a combination of some decent England bowling and an Australian team that had already won the Ashes being a bit absent minded. I think there was probably a fair few more runs in it with a bit of discipline.

Agreed. And a total to chase with a 2 on the front would have been much more difficult. Lots of ifs and buts and maybes, as always!

I think Cricket Australia who are understood have lost a huge amount of money due to the 2-day Test will have a 'gentle' word too. A 7mm cut produced a great Test against India, so to jump to 10mm was huge.

Extraordinary match. Chaos, played on a poor wicket that ultimately suited the Bazballers. A bit like Perth where the dice landed the other way and crucially England batted last. Out of 2612 test played only 27 have finished in two days, two in this series Which probably says something about the mindsets of the two teams.

Listening to TMS one one of the BBC Sports channels, the coverage continued with Brisbane Heat v Adelaide Strikers. The Australian commentators mentioned that the seam on the Kookaburra was raised slightly 2 1/2 years ago in an attempt to change the balance slightly in favour of the bowler but they still haven't found the right balance with the pitch preparation. Still, if as @Bonefish Blues has said, they went from a 7mm cut to 10mm, the adjustment was way too far.
