I think the police need to start clamping down on people using phones whilst driving but it seems they just can't be bothered> I see loads during my daily commute (the best was an artic driver going round an island whilst on the phone). An on the spot fine of £40 and/or confiscate the phone on the spot should do it.

Mike, Don't get me started.
The Police are always looking for people using mobiles. Problem is we do it in great big boxes with blue and yellow squares all over them. Most people see this before we see them using the tiny phones. Or in my case, I'm on my push bike and catching them in the car is pretty difficult!
I see loads of people when I'm off duty doing it, however If I can't get CPS to prosecute a domestic assault witnessed by two police officers how the hell am I going to get them to prosecute for using a mobile phone?
PS it's £60 and 3 points

I am an Openreach van driver and the company take things like this seriously, we have the 'hows my driving' sticker on the back with a 0800 contact no. I have to behave myself now;),but as cyclist myself I give them plenty of room when in the van.
