To be fair this was a few years ago, I'm guessing around 2004/5 I just fail to comprehend why anyone would plant such things and not record where, what a legacy to leave behind.

Had a fantastic week in Dubrovnik (stayed inside walled old town) and another fantastic week on an island further north (Mljet).
Don't swim off Dubrovnik unless you like swimming in cigarette butts and floating bags though..
When a cruise ship comes in, it overshadows the town, and the place fills up for the day, but the evenings are splendid.
Walk up the hill outside town (Srd hill... there's a cable car too, but I preferred to walk) to the museum at the top... fascinating.
As ever, people love it if you can 'do' a bit of the language :okay: or at least have a go.

I've been to Croatia twice in the past few years. Flew to Split on both occasions and stayed on the island of Brac and then the town of Trogir. On both holidays I found the locals to be nothing but very accommodating. The food and drink were both excellent with lots of fresh fish on the menu. Split has an underground Roman palace which was great for hiding from the heat. I would happily return to Croatia next summer but suspect that next summers holidays will involve a staycation.
