The weather is hopefully getting better now so I might just end up taking it off.

You've done it now . Commute bikes = leave mudguards on. Just get busy with a few cable ties !

I dont think cable ties will solve my problem.

If you can get a 5mm Allen key between the tyre and the calliper you have enough room for the crud racers. Well with a 23mm tyre for sure. After all who uses a 25mm Tyre? That practically a mountain bike tyre,

I do and at the moment I have 28mm 4 seasons on (much narrower than actually the claimed 28mm). Much better ride, and hardly any weight difference.

I must admit that I'd be worried about getting the guards on a 25mm tyre with modern frames.

It depends on the tyre really. The 28mm 4 seasons I have which sit on an 18 rim are much shorter than you'd expect, less than the 25mm gp4000s's I run in the summer. I still have about 6-7 mm of clearance with the 28s on the felt.

Once you are happy everything is set up properly you need to pull the mudguard up away from the tyre at a point between the stays. They're designed to float with a bit of play, and pulling up and letting go in a sort if slowmotion twang resets their positioning.

Not trying to start a "which mudguard" debate and take away from the thread, but I think that cruds mk2 will always rub. If you're are happy to be adjusting every so often then that's great. If not go for something more rigid eg. SKS raceblade LONG

I've just ordered a set of RB longs. As they don't go under the calliper I shouldn't have any issues running my preferred wider tyre. The cruds are very unforgiving, they're also noisy.. I follow lots of riders with them on our club rides and the noise they make would do my nut in!
