Blackberries from my favourite spot on the L bank of the Trent. The brambles and stinging nettles seem to have a mutual protection pact - I have many irritating stings and scratches on my right arm. By the time I got them home, a couple of green insects like small shield bugs had emerged, as well as three small maggots. I left the box of fruit overnight but nothing else showed itself, so if any were still in there they'll be additional cooked protein. Probably enough fruit to make two crumbles, at a pinch, but made just one super-fruity crumble.

but its exquisite mmm! 
made with red and green gooseberries, the juices have risen up through the topping giving that gooey/crunchy texture.
