Hi. I've taken up cycling again after a few years off...purchased a cube aim pro 29. Delighted with the quality upon opening the box.

That's till after I'd conquered a big hill and something had snapped 10 minutes into my first (small) ride back on a bike.

I've emailed the company but thought I'd get the unbiased opinion of you guys. Basically the chain and gear changer snapped off when I was on a straight 2 minutes after said hill...I was in 5th gear just taking it steady...I've included some pictures...

What's the question? The cage has broken off the RD. Can't tell what may have caused it. Any spoke damage?

This is not a recommendation to buy from Tweeks.
If getting out on your bike is important, get a replacement quickly (from your LBS?) while you wait for Cube (or whoever) to respond/sort it.

Boy that's a rare failure, as Ajax says your cage has simply sheared off the main derailleur body.
You're extremely unlucky, that's not remotely common or expected.

Bizarrely I've only had one major Shimano component fail (a Tiagra combined brake lever / shifter) and that was also virtually brand new, maybe 4th ride. It's the only time in my life that a major bike component has just completely given up the ghost with no warning.

It's up to your dealer or seller to put it right under warranty but like Ajax I'd consider just getting it fixed as best you can. With my brifter unit it was on a bike bought online, I talked with them, I got a replacement unit in the mail and I sent the damaged one back, then I had an LBS do the cable work for a small fee. The retailer then reimbursed me the LBS invoice amount. Just talk to your seller and see what they suggest.

No question, just after opinions and I see I have two very helpful ones so thank you both! Just my luck eh!!

I'm just waiting to hear back from them, I work in the motorcycle trade so I like the idea of getting a replacement part to have it fixed locally, as from experience it's much easier for both parties. Theres no spoke damage that I can see, just two small scuff marks on the frame (boohoo), if the sellers willing to get part to me so I can get it fixed locally, I'll have them check it for further damage.

Thanks for your help guys.

With a couple of allen keys you could fit a replacement in 10 minutes and then index the rear mech. There won't be damage of any significance (judging from your narrative).
