Only fairly recently got back into cycling & currently riding either a Trek hybrid or Marin MTB. I've come to the conclusion I'd rather have a road bike than the hybrid & have seen some great buys in the end of year sales. My current favourite is the Cube Peleton, available for £599 from a number of outlets. It seems to get good reviews from the magazines, any views on here as to whether this is a good buy for the money?

Have you got a link to the spec? For £600 on a sale bike, you should be getting Sora groupset and carbon fork, for a little over the Giant Defy 2 with Tiagra and carbon fork comes into play

Go test ride one to know if it is the bike for you

Yes it has the Sora group set & carbon forks. I'm not sure if I can manage to post a link whilst on the iPad ^_^ I'll maybe have a go in a minute. Giant bikes also seem to get good reviews and are sold at Cycle Surgery where I was looking at the Cube, so maybe I'll have a look at them this week.

No, try as I might I seem unable to copy & paste the specification into this page. Must be doing something wrong!

Yes, they only have 58cm left, however Cube seem to size very slightly smaller than some due to the sloping top tube. I'm an even 6' with 33" inside leg & I got them to set the saddle height to what I use on my other two bikes & it seemed just right.

The Cubes are much better looking than the Giants, especially if you're looking at the 2013 Defy 2 which has the worst colour scheme ever placed onto an aluminium road bike! However, once you've ridden one you do find yourself strangely addicted to its square-jawed manfulness.

My Defy 3 is mostly black and as such, really good looking, and is a proper man's bike without the silly (though effective) curves on, for example, my Cannondale.
