Cube Software - Angry!!!! 😡

I paid over £3000 for my Cube Kathmandu a few weeks ago. This morning the display’s dead and the remote’s not controlling anything.

OK the app says ‘software error’ but when I tap for the solution all I get is ‘contact your e-bike dealer’. Great but they’re closed, it’s Sunday!!!

Why can’t they just post the instructions to fix it???

Thanks. I’ve just checked that and the software is up to date so no solution there. It’s an error but no information on how to fix it other than contacting the dealer.

If that's the case then it's not user fixable and anyway tinkering with it yourself could invalidate your warranty so best wait for the dealer fix.

Yes, a few times. It’s rideable but feels like it’s stuck in turbo so wouldn’t be much for me to do. Also no display to know what’s left in the battery which will run down quicker in turbo.

Certainly food for thought, Kathmandu was on my shortlist for next ebike but it may drop off sepending on how this goes for you. I wouldnt want to be stuck with no bike just because I'm not trusted to try and fix it myself.

A fellow software programmer had an all-purpose error message during development: "Danger, Will Robertson!"

I wonder if any of those made it into production.

Pestering a human to update you is an automation failure. Oil needs water like software needs a bicycle.

I wonder if it is some kind of general error, eg a watchdog error, so it may require a deeper diagnosis or logs downloaded to determine the cause. I’m seeing a rise in general errors like this in my day role managing medical devices.

Indeed, the only 'software' errors we used to get were flat tyres .

Another reason to avoid bikes from a manufacturer named after a slang term for testicles.

If my computer was peeing me off I'd go for a bike ride to calm down. Not so easy when your bike is the computer. A good reason to keep a spare analogue bike handy.

Not that I want to appear a smug luddite, but clearly this is always going to be a danger when you own a bicycle that need a fugging app to operate..
