Custom butted vs Double butted chromoly

Hello - I'm trying to understand the difference between these two frames. Is there any meaningful difference or is this just marketing hash.

If it helps, I'm comparing the Kona Sutra vs the Dawes Galaxy Touring bikes. Leaning towards the Kona as I rode it and it felt much more alive than the Dawes.

Custom butted implies that the central thin walled section of tube between the butts varies according to need. We can only assume that the difference is between frame sizes. I suspect it's bollex.

Go for the Kona anyway.
