I saw this bike on ebay, the front wheel has a rod brake and the rear one is a calliper.

I haven't seen a rod brake for years. They were the original suicide brakes.

No the rod brakes to the rear have been removed (there is the old rod pivot at the bottom of the headstock) and a better wheel and brakes installed.

I'm still doing that now black old fashioned gloss and silver hammerite if you can't be bothered with a decent red primer.... If you want to hide rust can't beat it
