I used one of these fitted with the metal cutting blade. Maybe an overkill but it was handy and easier than using a junior hacksaw.

Finally got round to sorting out the mudguards. Took them round to my dads and he got his angle grinder out which made short work of them (the stays that is!). I am now a happy well fitted mudguard owner! Or at least I will be so long as they don't start squeaking.

I rode for years without mudguards, then fitted a full set, went for a ride and tipped the bike up on its back wheel to wheel it round a corner to park it - knackered the rear mudguard!

Now I don't have mudguards again!

don't bother cutting them just buy bigger wheels and a bigger frame, I reckon the SKS ones I just bought had stays long enough for a Penny farthing, ok ok an "Ordinary"

What about using shaped explosive charges to cut mudguard stays?

Anybody tried that?

Any of you military types?

Just doing my bit to lengthen the thread.
