Hi All,

I want a bike suitable for light MTB, off road, gravel etc as well as domestic commuting/school run/shopping duties as well as a bit of winter bike duties - not much eh?

Would like drop bars, not to be too heavy, take proper guards and a rack - max £1000

I almost bought this but then Halfords put the price up:

I quite liked this one from the pictures but went off it slightly seeing it in real life, something about the cabling? I'm not sure really, just looked a lot clumsier in real life?

So I'm after other suggestions that might fit the bill?

Already ruled out the London Road before anyone suggests that one please

Whenever these threads pop up I always suggest the Pinnacle Arkose.

Bought mine two years ago and it's been my do anything bike.

Here's the thread where I asked the same question:

£900 buys you the Arkose 3 2016, mostly 105 groupset, hydro disc brakes and mounts for rack.

£1100 buys you the Arkose 4, very similar but you get the arguably better looking/feeling shifters and a Shimano chainset.

Thanks all, the Boardman looks good but I'm a bit concerned about Sora, let me know how you find it @mk6golf !

Not a fan of the Giants tbh, what is going on with the rear triangle on the Revolt and the AnyRoad giraffe type creation?!

Not heard of Pinnacle, will look them up thanks @Darren Gregory

Forme Hooklow?

Under budget so could upgrade groupset if required http://m.gooutdoors.co.uk/forme-hooklow-2-bike-p375907

I've got Sora on my Road Comp and it's not hugely different to the 105 on my other bike (apart from fewer gears...)

If you like the Cinelli, British Cycling membership would give you another 10% off for £35, and although Halfords might not be too keen on giving any more discount on the bike but they can often be persuaded to throw in some accessories - like mudguards, perhaps?
Or Halfords will have another sale along soon...;)
