Do they have to make an appointment to join, or can they just walk in and demand to be read?

Admin will however have to ask lots of embarrassing and irrelevant questions, record about 30 aspects of their personal history for Government audits and clerk them in before they can post!

Then there will also be targets to be met................

Do the Mods get green romper suits? And woo woos on our bikes?

Actually, I've an appointment on Thursday morning, could I just post my symptoms here instead? I'm sure someone would think they know more than any doctor anyway.

Since I set up our NHS trust cycle2work scheme 3 years ago we've had over 150 staff signing up to take advantage... I was mid way through launching a NHS staff CycleChat@lunch scheme but I fear after this thread we might not all be welcome ;)

One of our esteemed forumites is profiled in the latest issue of the NHS Mail newsletter - and he says that CycleChat is his favourite web-site. They even give a link...

I think we should brace ourselves for an influx of NHS staff.

On my part, not at all. Just a bit of fun regarding the lengthy delays in some appointment times and some of the bureaucracy that sometimes gets in the way of just delivering the service.
Frontline staff at my local A&E are fantastic, although my current consultant leaves a lot to be desired.

i like how they list the clinics that are running and then don't list the clinic that you are booked in for. that makes guessing the wait a fun game to play. the Consultant was very nice though and complimented me on not being a football fan.

Can we make them wait for their 1 year Trophy? Currently I'm waiting 16 months for a 12 month follow-up appointment and have been told that I will get a letter in the next 6-8 weeks to give me a date!!! (However all the staff I've met have been nice and I was ex-NHS many years ago myself:smile:)

It's a bit more complicated than that...
Maybe we need to set up a WRVS tea thread, that also sells flowers and puzzle books.
Admin would have to charge it rent and make sure his PFI provider didn't have an exclusivity clause.

Incidentally, if any of you are feeling guilty about taking the mickey out of the NHS, two of your fellow-members are raising funds for their hospital radio stations in connection with the Fridays' LonJoG tour - one as a presenter, the other as the chair of the hospital Friends. I'm sure either would be delighted to receive donations!
