Hi all,

I'm off to Spain on Sunday to do some cycling, staying in l'Estrada, does anyone have first hand experience or any routes that they've used in this area? We've got a car so can travel to a start point and we've got some recommended routes starting in Girona from the internet but was wondering if anyone could help...

***EDIT: NOT GALICIA - Looking for routes around Girona area***

Thanks in advance
James

Hi Mark,

We're looking to do day long rides - Approx 100-150k a day but coming back to where we're staying each night rather than a tour round the region.

Maybe I've got this wrong then- I thought that Galicia was the region? We are staying in L'Estrada which is about 150k from Barcelona. Girona is just down the coast.

Galicia is the bit of Spain on top of Portugal in the NW corner, adjoining Asturias. You are going to Catalonia. ^_^

I know routes up in Galicia but not around Girona, although I have cycled in the city and the historic side is beautiful, I rode down to Barcelona through the Montseny national park, it was great. If you want to see Barcelona and cycle in there (plenty of bike paths/lanes), then get the coast train to somewhere like Mataro, cycle in traffic free.

Yes that's what I thought, Catalonia is def where we're going!....ah well, obviously I mis read the map. Thanks but we are wanting to do road based riding, hoping to take in some of the local climbs etc rather than ride in a park.

It's a national park, not a park with a bandstand and ducks, the climbs are spectacular and hard.................
