I wouldn't, simply because it would make no difference. If they want to find some excuse to bitch about cyclists they will do, whether it's road tax, two abreast, filtering, rlj, compulsory training, lycra, helmets, no helmets, slow speed, smugness ...

The bottom line is that it's an unattractive combination of fear, envy and shame: where a normal well-adjusted human would simply live and let live, some people just don't seem to be comfortable in themselves when there are other views on display that they perceive as challenges to their own

Such a well written article by Tricia. I am in total agreement. I am originally from Belfast but now live in an urban city in France where there are the same problems. I don't know how many times I have almost be run over by cyclists who think they are competing in the Tour de France. They have no respect for pedestrians or drivers. They fly through red lights and suddenly appear on footpaths even though there are cycle lanes. They whizz around without wearing helmets and here there is the norm that young children sit on the back of backs in a child seat. To me that is just crazy.
