Well, it seems the rapture is almost upon us. Rather warm in the US, rather damp in Germany, rather iceless in the Arctic.

We've been warned about rhe end of civilisation for years, yet driving that car is just too convenient, or needlessly upgrading that smartphone too tempting, and we brought it upon ourselves.

This being the case, its time to look back at the various documentaries that forecast the end of civilisation and choose our favourite.

Early sitrep. And its quote disturbing that Notting Hill appears to the the most reliable glimlse of our post apocalyptic future. Thaings are clearly worse than we thought. May the Lord have mercy upon our souls!

Tomorrow's World..
Remember 'indestructible CD discs'

I recall the days before reaching 10, adults were collecting stamps, coins, nautical instruments, maps, vinyl records, guitars and even matchboxes. Remember when Dad and I am sure others would spend hours on weekend afternoons paying attention to their collections, writing letters to some shops for more details etc. Others would grow orchids, raise show chickens, visit blue plaques, do the football pools with great intensity etc. The socialists in us would attend talks, gather signatures, run campaigns and bounce from one schism to the next.

The concept of apocalypse was in science fiction only then.

Now we are in the era beauty influencers, conspiracy theorists, scam calls, identity politics, cowboy builders, daily mail etc. None of which I thought would be commonplace or even exist years ago.

More of the same would be - sex, music, pies, fish and chips. sunday roast, ale, academia, cars, bicycles, trains and our beloved tube. May its not too bad after all.

Waterworld is a water park in Stoke on Trent.

Whilst it does do an excellent job of displaying the British obesity crisis in all its glory, with a side of dodgy tattoo tastes, I'm not sure it's the literal apocalypse.

If it is, then I can reassure the cyclechat massive that escaping from the End Times requires just ensuring your armband isn't lost and the ability to change clothes in a confined space.
