When I lived in North Wales I often came across people who had met someone who knew someone who had seen things that could not he human

There was always a far higher incidence of UFO sightings in that area that other parts of the country

Remind me again where the busiest Air Force base in the UK is???

@roubaixtuesday I'm not trying to prove, convince or preach to anyone. Just contributing to a thread I have an interest in. There are hours of Congressional hearings to watch and a number of current books by academics on the subject.

In addition

I have seen a UFO two or thress times

First time was on Moreton shore on the Wirral
I was walkign the dog and I noticed a bright light off shore
it was heading towards me and very clear
there was no wind
it got close and closer and could be seen lighting up the sparse clouds in the sky

after a while it turned and headed away - but youc ould still see the clouds being lit up
then it came back in again

all this in TOTAL silence - not engine noise even when it was almost overhead
it came in then went out several times over about 30-40 minutes

a couple of people were watching it - most left due to being worried about what it was

again NO NOISE in spite of not being all that high (for something flying around) and being almost overhead at times
planes heading for Liverpool are common there - and you can always hear them

anyway after a few runs it headed back and went directly overhead and headed inland
THEN I heard the engines

it was just a small plane - but there must have been a wind higher up that was taking the noise away from us

similar thing about a strange light drifitng slowly down the river in Cardigan
floating a few hundred feet up - totally silent but moving down the river

got back to the camp site and found someone had been setting off Chinese lanterns to drift offshore
and one went the wrong way

I met a bloke who had had similar experiences and went to a UFO spotters group

and got kicked out with threats when he asked if it could be something like that

Next up, Cyclechat investigates flat earth.

That is clearly total rubbish

whenever I go out on my bike I climb more than I descend so it can't be flat

Yes, there is a huge difference between not being able to explain every observation ever made and your claim, which was the existence of " mind bending performance characteristics that defy all we currently know about flight, thermo dynamics and propulsion systems. "

Yebbut anything we don't fully understand has got to be down to space aliens, or maybe God did it

Well cephalopods might well be the most intelligent life on the planet if the mammals were wiped out, but would be unlikely to use that intelligence in ways early humans did, since it isn't easy to farm or build underwater without much more advanced technology than stone age.
Who’s to say cephalopods won’t evolve to live on land, just like early vertebrates did? Octopuses can already survive on land for a period of about an hour, and do so voluntarily to hunt or move between pools. Give ‘em a few million years of evolution and they could, possibly, be building their first space probes just as they notice the sun is getting bigger, or alternatively , spending all their time trying to catch flying crabs.
