Cycling along Great British Canals - TV idea

I'd suggest extending it to cover canals and disused railway routes. The film crew can follow on a canal boat to film or use a recumbent load carrier to film from. A balanced hand held camera wouldn't shake too much.

It would be good, especially if it was done as a historical story telling thing visiting interesting sites and people.

Different types of bikes could be used with a little introduction to the bike but then take it for granted. A bit like that maths type bloke, Adam Hart Davis, who had brightly coloured single fork bike and occasional trailer. He mentioned the bike when it was useful to but didn't make a big thing of it.

one HUGE problem with this idea...

in any program about traveling along canals surely they would use a boat ????

May I refer you to the picture of my water cycle above;)

Mark Williams is great at these educational programmes, and a nice bloke.

+1,

I'd like to see him on the newly re-opened Forth and Clyde / Union Canal route across Central Scotland. Taking in the Falkirk Wheel and the soon to be built Helix Project. ;)

I'm sure he's done the Falkirk wheel. And the Chirk aqueduct.

Think your right - but not it's soon to be constructed brother on the other side of town. Two "Kelpies"(mythical Scottish horses) will lift boats from the Forth and Clyde Canal onto the river Carron at the Falkirk ECOPARK. - ;) -

of course they'd need a permit to cycle on the towpath or to do so is illegal. it's the most pointless rule; you download and print it off from the british waterways website and fill in your own name

mine even says alecstilleyedye on it…

Very Interesting!

Never knew that - I've regularilly cycled both the Forth and Clyde and the Union Canals as both run through Falkirk. I'll get one for the summer.

Your a real mine of information, not all of it useless - alecstilleyedye. - -
