A lot of my musical influence came from friends I used to cycle with. As a teenager I used to race and often had lifts to races from older friends and it was on those journeys that I first heard Led Zeppelin, John Mayall, The Groundhogs and Paul Butterfield.

Driving to the hills with a walking companion (I cycled with him too) I used to listen to a lot of soul and blues.

Whilst living in Stornoway more cycling friends introduced me to new genres and bands. It was there that I got a taste for Jazz and another guy had a massive collection of Indie.

I love scrolling through the "Friday Night Music Night" thread. The likes of Poacher, Petexxx and Kynikos seem to have similar tastes, others post stuff I've never heard of, so I open the link and have a listen. Nearly 50 years on from when I first joined a cycling club and the link between music and cycling continues
