Didn't they also say that cycling employes something like 23,000 people in the UK? Or was it 30,000? Can't remember, it was on Breakfast News this morning.
They were talking about all the spending on bikes and ever increasing amounts on accessories - helmets, gloves etc.
They were claiming 13 million cyclists in the UK, that's one in four of us. Clearly they are counting all BSO owners and the once a year jockeys in the figures. Still good to see a positive cycling story on the news, especially on a day when the only other story covered is Libya (Quite rightly too).
No doubt Clarkson would say, yes, but imagine if they all drove cars, we'd all be contributing MORE to the economy, petol, repairs, MOT, insurance...and the list goes on. And as clarkson says...more is better
i have spent quite a bit lately keeping my ever increasing fleet on the road or getting them roadworthy , my lbs even know my name without asking first !!
