It is my sisters birthday at the weekend. For a bit of a holiday I'm thinking about taking my trike on its first long ride. (Also my first longish ride). I'm planning to stop overnight somewhere depending on how I feel.

Has anyone done this route? What cycling app would you recommend for a novice. I would like to use a quiet route if possible. :-)

Thanks for your help.

Try using www.viamichelin.co.uk and the bicycle option to find a quiet route. It's rather good. You might have to split the journey into sections of less than 200km.

Horwich is only about 100 Km depending on routes - doable in a leisurely day. However it is hilly in parts so a couple of days would be comfortable

You might like to look at CycleStreets This gives a Fast, Quiet and "Balanced" route option with detailed mapping and some photos to help navigation.

I tend to use this as a basis to plan routes.
