You should see it in Denmark at the moment

I hear it is pretty bad over there, everyone from our office in Esbjerg has been sent home however given the office is 20 metres from the quayside that is probably a wise decision.

Hope @gavroche and @Matthew_T haven't been flooded out. It's pretty bad along the North Wales coast. Apparently Asda in Towyn is open but the main road is closed due to flooding - I guess if you have a dinghy that would be useful !

Rode in to Doncaster from Leeds this morning. Flew in!! At one point I was doing 40mph and hardly pedalling. I just rode out from the kerb about an extra 1-2 feet to allow for corrections from cross winds (which were quite fierce). I was also pleased to find that most drivers, and all HGV drivers, realised I might need a little more room than normal and gave me it!

Riding home will be "interesting".

I use to have a wind guard on my back wheel of a bike once, that did a good job compared to the bike I have without one, however winds are dangerous far car drivers and motorcycles as they are for cyclist and the only way you can get better at attacking the wind is through experience.

I shift my weight every so slightly so when I do get a push that shift of weight does enough to help me keep in a fair line without wobbling too much but the wind will still push you but your line of travel might straighten but do not shift your weight so much that you're hanging on one side or will fall once that wind just stops, the weight shift is every so slightly and im a short guy 5ft2 and that small shift is enough for me so it should be enough for most people, if that does not work do not shift anymore. This is what I do, It has been safe for me but I have no idea if it is an ideal thing to do so do not quote me on it.

The whole country is shut down. All trains are stopped, all the bridges are closed. It is howling like a banshee out there.

It will be interesting what we find in the morning.

Hopefully a big bag of money in the garden!
Or a couple of lightweight bikes in relatively undamaged condition!

Wind was immense this morning - left the machine at home. I rode in the bad snow several years ago, and snow last year - i don't mind it. But this morning looked to be too dangerous to ride in. Simple as. I don't judge anyone who left their bike at home today.

I believe it's a bit windy out. Can't tell in our old building at work. Apparently a truck has been blown over on Barton bridge and a massive tree has come down on Birchfields Road in Longsight (one of the main routes into Manchester from the South) shutting the whole road.

I went for a little explore around Kimnel Bay. The route I took going up to the prom was okay, but I was an idiot and decided to go another route back to the main road. I tried to keep my momentum up but when I left the water, I tried to clear the car out and it started screeching (just once). I stopped and spoke to two bobbies who said that at one point it was almost up to my door.
The car juddered a bit just after that but it is okay now. Lesson learnt (dont go through somewhere that people are walking, it is deeper than you think).

Matthew always worth not going through water. A mate of mine damaged his engine in the tiniest of puddles, water got in the air intake and through to the cylinders. I also had a boss that thought it was ok to drive a £30k car through a flood. Got halfway in and the car stopped. It was waist high. One written off car.
