Cycling in Fog

It will be "less safe" but by how much? weather reports doesn't mean that it will be sub 100m visibility etc. And, less cars around at 5am. I assume you have more than just some basic LED flasher? If you have any extras put them on.

What I find with fog is that it accumulates on my glasses and it makes it seem worse

Fog is alright, just take it easy, use good lights and wear light colours with reflectives.

Ideally use a more powerful light up front and rear on steady, plus a flasher rear and front. At 5am it should be ok to monitor the sound and visual of traffic around you - most will be in bed.

You should be fine with what you've got.

My only tip is to beware of cars with only one headlight working. You think there's a motorbike coming the other way in the middle of their lane, but it turns out it's a car straddling the white line with the non-working-light side of the vehicle in your lane!

From recent rides in the dark, I'd estimate that around 1 in 10 vehicles on the road have only one front light working (and often only one rear or brake light working). Phenominally high number - plod could be raking in a fortune in fines doing people with faulty lights!

Thanks for the replies. I run BM lights front and back off a hub dynamo with a 1 watt flash at the back. Still trying to find the right things to wear either too hot or too cold. Best thing I've found so far is a florecent running gilet
