Wow thanks for all the input. Def up for it. Switched trainers at the gym and he has full confidence in me so will book online later. Can't wait. We stayed last week at the loch tummel inn, I think it was. Great food, really hospitable too. Nor aure about the sprint finish, i think just getting to the end will be good enough lol Can't wait!

OMG, I do not believe that as a Scot that I wrote that. I apologise profusely to all concerned. It must be ex-pat existence washing out my heritage. Time to plan a trip back to Edinburgh. Sorry!!

Well I live in London, so it would be a trek to do more up there but thanks for the link, I will check it out later. Weather is a concern, and we can't do much about it except pray. Not heard of the Skye beag. So, 6months of hard training! Woop woop

Simon....it would be worth thinking about taking the trek, if not for all, but at least one or maybe two of these events. Hands on Events are offering up a few of the best rides you can possibly take in the UK. I did the Bealach Beag this year (which incorporates the single longest climb in the UK) and which was without doubt the hardest 43.8 miles I've cycled in my life and the Cairngorm 50 which was a lot easier in many ways, but both take in some of the best scenery Scotland has to offer. None of the Sportives they offer are easy. Looking at the Skye profiles - and knowing the island - there is no question in my mind that these are seriously tough routes but equally...seriously beautiful routes.

As to the weather? Well, pah! Does it not rain in London now and again? Toughen up man.

Lol when it rains here, I stay inside lol. It's not the weather I'm scared of, but the state of the roads, metal man-hole covers and the like, which with my slim wheels, makes sliding off a lot easier

Hmmm long hills, no thanks haha. Sounds good, but I think baby steps first
