Hi all,

can anyone recommend a good cycling jacket. i want wind proof but i am not bothered about it being waterproof. I commute daily 15 miles each way and my current jacket gets very sweaty so im looking for something breathable. ive got a budget of about £120. any recommendations?

For the winter - Lusso Windtex - about £70.

I'd like a jacket that doesn't leave me looking like I've swum to work if the temperature bumps above freezing

I use an Altura one that is pretty much windproof and fairly waterproof, but at the same time breathable. It's a synthetic fibre, but I haven't a clue of the name. If I can find out I'll let you (and OP) know.

I currently use a Gore Bike Wear Path (£120 here! http://www.wiggle.co.uk/gore-bike-wear-path-waterproof-jacket-2012/ ) It's very lightweight, waterproof and breathable (Gore-Tex lining). Other options are lightweight walking jackets. I used my Rab Bergen (eVent waterproof lining) for years and it performs just as well (and is even more breathable) but at £180 is out of your budget.

But it's worth paying a bit extra for something that will get a lot of use. I think the £120 Gore I found is outstanding value for such a high performing jacket.

I have Gore overshoes and have been pretty pleased with them.

For longer rides I'm happy with my sexy flocked Tenns bibtights, a long sleeve compression top and my nice Adnams jersey, but for the paltry three mile commute I just don't have time to warm up (nor anywhere to change) so I need instant warmth, but not too much. I did consider walking jackets but at the moment I'm using a cheap sports jacket and could do with a bit more bum coverage
