Cycling Plus, more like a minus

My last copy arrived today, cancelled my subscription a couple of months ago, just don't think it's worth the money any more. This copy was a perfect example, they were testing lights and I was looking forward to that at least. Anyone else seen it? What a waste of time, a tiny sample with next to no info on run times, charging times etc. How difficult would it have been to at least show some beam shots? I could go on but rant over.

I have bought it twice, for the "free" buff. Flicked through it, that's about it.

One copy purchased (free buff edition) and lots of advertiser friendly product reviews.

Will not hurry back for copy number 2.

I had a trial sub a few months ago (3 issues for £1). I couldn't work out who it was aimed at: the articles seemed like they were written for beginners, but most of the reviews were of top-of-the-range race bikes.

Got it today for the buff though.

Out of interest, how did you cancel your subscription?

For similar reasons and to save money, I keep meaning to cancel mine, just get the comic. But of course there aren't instructions on how to do it on the website and each time I remember to try and find out a payments just gone out so I think I'll sort it in a few months, then forget again until the next payment has just gone!

Presumably aimed at those keen beginners with huge budgets to throw at getting all the right kit to look good....

(and who are probably into something else by the mext month....)

I bought it for the first time this month for the DVD. Must say I am not impressed with the contents. Far too much advertising and top of the range gear that most of us cant afford.
Unless they have a nice freebee I fancy, I wont buy it again.
I quite like Cycling Active though and it is cheaper too!

I liked C+ when it first started - useful articles, including making a set of lights and getting a BB fixed cup out without the right tools. It's now hard to tell the articles from the ads.
They used to have a good forum too...

All I did was cancel the direct debit/standing order with the bank.
I stopped getting it about a year ago when they had most of the back half of the mag devoted to pages and pages of new bike listings and other assorted ads.

Bought it a couple of times to read on the train or plane but as Mort says, I found it to be no different to many other magazines in that it has the occasional useful bit but concentrates on the shiny expensive kit. As a retrobike rider very little of its content is relevant to me so I don't bother any more. Since Personal Computer World died a couple of years ago I've given up on magazines, with the exception of New Scientist, although now and then when the editor is feeling in a good mood, I get sent a freeby issue of a magazine I used to write for.

Got my copy this morning. Noticed that the magazine had a review of steel framed bikes falling in the £1500 price bracket. Spot on, just what I am looking for, n=n+1 etc,etc

Buff is not bad, pity the review is not of a similar quality.

I changed from C+ to Cycling Active, but to be honest, the C Active reviews are even worst than the C+ ones. I won't be renewing my subscription.

Totally agree, especially regarding the forum, absolutely fab until it became BR (shudder).
